One Step at a Time: A Marathon for Mental Health
I am writing to you today with a heavy heart. Mental health is an issue that touches us all in one way or another, whether it be ourselves, our loved ones, or our friends. I, like so many, have personally experienced the struggles that mental health issues can bring and the importance of finding effective treatments. That is why I am so passionate about supporting Mental Health Research UK, an organisation dedicated to financing the research and development of new mental health treatments through the sponsorship of PhD students. These dedicated individuals are tirelessly working to discover and implement innovative ways to improve the lives of those suffering from mental health issues.
I am running the Great North Marathon, to raise funds for Mental Health Research UK. I will be live streaming the whole marathon ( no tech issues). This 13.1-mile marathon requires months of intense training, determination, and perseverance. The Great North Marathon, with its challenging terrain and unpredictable weather, is particularly demanding. However, I am determined to rise to the occasion and am eager to undertake this challenge for a cause that is close to my heart.
I am reaching out to you today with a simple but powerful request. Please consider donating to Mental Health Research UK and supporting the research of these PhD students. Your contribution will go towards funding the training of postgraduate scientists through PhD scholarships and enabling them to make groundbreaking discoveries and advance the field of mental health. It takes £90,000 to train a postgraduate scientist through a PhD scholarship, and Mental Health Research UK has already awarded grants for research on schizophrenia, suicide and depression, and children and young people. The organisations goal is to build research capacity by providing awards for scholarships. By donating, you can help to ensure that these dedicated scientists have the resources they need to make meaningful contributions to the lives of those suffering from mental health issues.
I understand that these are difficult times and that many of us are facing our own struggles. But I ask that you find it in your hearts to support this important cause.
By tuning in to my live stream, you can virtually run the marathon alongside me or cheer me on and be a part of something truly special. No matter where you are, no matter who you are, you can join me on this amazing journey and show your support for mental health research. Together, we can break the stigma surrounding mental health and create a more understanding and compassionate society.
But this journey is not just about me and my marathon run. It's about all of us coming together to support a cause that touches the lives of so many. It's about breaking the stigma surrounding mental health and creating a more understanding and compassionate society. And it's about inspiring others to take action and make a difference.
So are you ready to join me on this incredible journey? If so, please, mark your calendars for the 10th of September and join me for the live stream of my marathon run! Donate to Mental Health Research UK today and be a part of something truly special. Your support can change the lives of countless individuals struggling with mental health issues. Together, we can make a difference in the short term and the long term. And don't forget to share this fundraiser with your friends and family. Every little bit helps!
