Events24/07/2010: Evening of fun, food and folk at Weobley Village Hall Ramble for Robbo
Date: Saturday 26th June 2010
We have all been affected by the loss of Mark Robinson last October when acute clinical depression made him decide the world would be a better place without him. We all know how wrong he was. Our understanding of depression, its causes and treatment need to be greatly improved. A new charity Mental Health Research UK led by Professor Clair Chilvers needs funds to try and answer many of these questions. More can be read about the charity elsewhere on this web site. A group of family and friends of Mark and his family (120 in total) walked 10 miles in the hills of Long Mynd on Saturday 26 June to raise money for this charity. So far more than £15,000 has been raised by the walk. Please support us by donating money to this worthwhile cause so that others struggling with mental illness can get the help they deserve.
To help us, devise your own fundraising activity (the crazier the better) or simply make a donation. Ramble for Robbo is not just a walk, it's all about the cause. Ramble for Robbo on JustGiving Evening of fun, food and folk at Weobley Village Hall
Saturday 24th July 2010
An evening of dancing and fund raising took place in Weobley Village Hall, Herefordshire, to raise money for Mental Health Research UK. The evening was held to commemorate Ceiledh lover, and passionate environmentalist Imogen Curnew. Imogen died after losing a battle with depression last year and is sorely missed by her loving family and network of friends around the world. The festivities included live music from a Ceiledh, swing, and folk band as well as a DJ. There was a hog roast and other lovely food. Weobley Village Hall was an appropriate setting for the fund raiser, as the building is powered by solar energy, reflecting one of Imogen's greatest passions: environmentalism. All proceeds from the evening (over £1000) have gone to Mental Health Research UK. Event organiser, Jess Selfe, said: We all really miss Imogen and think this is a perfect way to remember her. We want to raise not just money but also awareness of a really important cause, and to try and help other people who are affected by mental illness.
